Matthew 21:6–11

“And the disciples went, and did as Jesus commanded them, And brought the ass, and the colt, and put on them their clothes, and they set him thereon. And a very great multitude spread their garments in the way; others cut down branches from the trees, and strawed them in the way. And the multitudes that went before, and that followed, cried, saying, Hosanna to the son of David: Blessed is he that cometh in the name of the Lord; Hosanna in the highest. And when he was come into Jerusalem, all the city was moved, saying, Who is this? And the multitude said, This is Jesus the prophet of Nazareth of Galilee.”

Beloved,

This is Jesus . . .

Who as a baby was born of a virgin just thirty years earlier than this moment. This now is the Triumphant Entry into Jerusalem, fulfilling the prophetic voice from hundreds of years prior. He is the same one that at the age of twelve, stayed behind in Jerusalem at the end of another passover celebration.

When his parents found him and expressed worry that he had stayed without permission, Jesus simply said, “How is it that you sought me? Did you not know that I must be in my Father’s house?”

Today He enters the same gate to Jerusalem on His way to the temple, another Passover to celebrate. The people are stirred. It was clear they were honoring Jesus as a prophet, a king, and soon to be deliverer. They could not help themselves, the shouts and songs echoing throughout the area rose to the heavens.

Those in authority were upset and asked Jesus to quiet His disciples (mob).

His reply, “I tell you that, if these should hold their peace, the stones would immediately cry out.” Other translations say the very rocks and stones will sing out.

In this moment, it is only days away from the crucifixion. Jesus knew His destination. He was here to keep the Father’s promise, for He only did what His Father asked him to do.

“For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.” John 3:16

Jesus, son of God giving himself to the slaughter. Most cannot imagine such a sacrifice.

So intent on giving himself for the world, that when Peter told Him, “No you cannot do this!”

Jesus rebuked him, “Get behind me Satan!”

Today beloved, ensure you go to your door to the outside and open it up. Invite Jesus to come in. Spread worship before Him, declaring your thankfulness for what He accomplished on the Cross. Allow Jesus to inhabit your heart, so that your breath is replaced by His. Become the joy that He set before Himself as he endured the suffering in your place. And even if the enemy tries to silence you, the things of your home will sing and shout Hosanna in the Highest. The chair will celebrate, the untouched piano in the corner will play, birds will light on your window sill singing of His Glory, and the very door posts will declare that Jesus is Lord.

It’s all about surrender beloved. Giving up your life to Him, the one who gave everything.. Letting go, so He can take hold. Let your voice sing of His majesty, let words declare that He is the world’s hope, shout from the roof top, Jesus is Lord!

and so it begins . . .
