Billy Graham Tribute
John 12:44–50 Cry out, “He that believeth on Jesus, believeth not on him, but on the Father who sent him. And he that seeth Jesus seeth his Father that sent him. Jesus came as a light into the world, that whosoever believeth on him should not abide in darkness. And if any man hear Jesus’ words, and believe not, He judges him not: for Jesus did not come to judge the world, but to save the world. He that rejecteth Jesus, and receiveth not his words, hath one that judgeth him: the word that Jesus has spoken, the same shall judge him in the last day. For Jesus has not spoken of himself; but of the Father which sent him, the Father gave Jesus a commandment, what He should say, and what He should speak. And Jesus knows that the Father’s commandment is life everlasting: whatsoever He spoke therefore, even as the Father said unto Him, so Jesus spoke.” (abridged)
Beloved,
These are the words that Jesus spoke while on the earth that must be spoken aloud, shouted from a roof top, spoken as if your life depended on it. Like our dear Billy Graham that passed away on February 21st, 2018, who spoke the words of Christ like they were his own. It is this personal nature of God, this intimacy that Christ demands of us, to be able to preach the Gospel to the nations. It is to preach the Word of God like it is your own, that out of the overflow of your heart the mouth will speak. it is there where this treasure chest of incredible wealth can be found, in the heart. It is your inheritance, the legacy of Christ for those that would pick up their cross and follow after Him.
Evangelist Billy Graham now stands in Heaven surrounded by legions of angels worshiping God. His loved ones, like his beloved Ruth are with him in this incredible paradise. But like other men of God, who spoke true of Christ’s words, these words do not fall to the ground and disappear, but are harvesting years into the future, raising up other evangelists, and other ministers of the Gospel. The words of Christ, that flowed from Pastor Graham’s heart have worked themselves into the culture of America and the world. God has received much glory from this humble minister of the Gospel, who spoke to thousands across this world.
Is this not our call too? We have the word of God inside of us and like Kathy Lee Gifford just spoke on national TV, “It would be like knowing we have the cure to cancer. Would we not want to share it with the world?” So the message of Christ goes forward and will find its target and will not relent. There are those that are humble like Billy, like Christ willing to lay down their lives for the message of the Cross. Today like yesterday and tomorrow, God challenges you to speak boldly of His son’s message to all mankind. It is for the reconciliation of all sons and daughters to the Father. This has been the purpose since the beginning of creation. We have a sure foundation on which to walk. it does not waver, or become unbalanced. As long as you fix your eyes on the Cross and the Lamb who gave everything.
You are the apple of His eye. Find your soap box, your stage, your venue, your place to speak boldly the words of Christ. It is your time: it is your inheritance and legacy. Become like Christ and shout boldly to the people gathered near you. We thank God for men and women like Evangelist Billy Graham! Work while there is still light, speak while you have a voice and know that the words you speak are not yours, but the Father’s who sent you. You are a reflection of Christ, made in His image and set on this earth to share the gospel of Christ.
